Java developer wanted for short term contract

Realtime Despatch specialises in the development of web based warehouse management and order processing systems in a Java/MySQL/Linux environment. We are looking for a top notch developer who can help us meet some tight delivery deadlines while advancing the product at a very exciting point in its evolution.

You could be the right person if:

  • you have a fierce desire to create the simplest solutions to complex problems, and eliminate code duplication.
  • you can get up to speed very quickly on an existing project with limited training and supervision.
  • you have a real flair for breaking a problem down into parts, and for identifying the right abstractions for solving complex problems.
  • you can adapt quickly to existing, perhaps unfamiliar, paradigms and architectural constraints.
  • you use Test Driven Development as a matter of course.

You'd have to comfortable working with MySQL, Linux, Eclipse and Subversion. Familiarity with Spring and project management tools such Trac will be a bonus.

This is an opportunity to work from home, which means that you will need to be productive with very little supervision. At the same time, you must be willing to engage in frequent and rigorous peer review of your work, even at interview stage. To make sure that regular face-to-face communication is possible, you should be based in the South East.

The role would suit someone who is available at least three days a week between mid July and September.
